What are the two motions of the Earth?
Earth has 2 motions:
- Rotation around its axis
- Revolution around Sun
The first motion, rotation or spinning around its own axis causes day and night on earth. The exact duration of Earth’s rotation (one day) is 23 hours, 56 minutes and 4 seconds. The speed of Earth’s rotation at the equator is 1,670 km/h.
The other motion, revolution around the sun causes change of seasons on earth. Earth’s speed while orbiting the sun is 107,000 km/h.
